I've been spending some evenings volunteering in Obama's Oregon City campaign headquarters. You can find all sorts of Obama campaign events to participate in here:
my.barackobama.com/page/eve...ch_simple
And you only have *four more days* to register to vote if you want to vote in Oregon's Democratic primary! Your registration form has to be *received* by Tuesday, April 29th (not merely postmarked). You can get registration stuff here:
my.barackobama.com/page/con...nvoterreg
(And don't worry, you can get the voter registration stuff here no matter who you're voting for. :) )
Whoever you're voting for, just VOTE, dammit!

Re: Delegate math adds up for Oregon primary
Fri, April 25, 2008 - 7:57 AMYou could always register Democrat if you care enough. it's quite easy. =)
As much as I like the open primary systems of some states, I can appreciate the argument that parties should be allowed to choose their own candidates. -

At the moment, Rush Limbaugh seems the best argument in favor of closed primaries. -

Same here. Dammit, I was just getting comfortable with my status as a registered independent when some candidate has to come along and actually INSPIRE me! How dare he!

Re: Delegate math adds up for Oregon primary
Fri, April 25, 2008 - 8:40 PMAfter debating with myself whether the principle of independence was worth the frustration of being barred from having say in who I get to vote for in November, I chucked the principle this week and changed my registration from Pacific Green Party to Democrat. You have until Tuesday (4/29) to do the same. It was relatively painless. And actually rather empowering. I recommend it. You can always change back on May 21.

A message from the Oregon Obama campaign
Fri, April 25, 2008 - 4:48 PMThis is a big weekend.
It's our last opportunity to register Democrats in Oregon before the deadline on Tuesday, April 29th -- and only registered Democrats can support Barack in the May 20th primary.
Our campaign has already generated incredible enthusiasm across the state -- thousands have turned out for office openings, organizational meetings, and rallies in cities from Portland to Medford.
But now we must channel that energy into votes by canvassing our neighborhoods and registering unregistered -- and Republican or Unaffiliated -- voters as Democrats so they can support Barack in the Oregon primary.
Help us forge a coalition of Democrats in Oregon that will help lead Barack to victory on May 20th, and in the general election in November.
Sign up now to register voters this weekend:
or.barackobama.com/ORcanvass
Years ago, Barack launched a voter registration drive on the south side of Chicago because he knew the best way to change politics was by bringing more people into the political process.
That's exactly what we're doing in Oregon.
There's no one more qualified than you to reach out and register voters in your community. And there's no more effective way to connect with fellow voters than a face-to-face conversation.
You can have a huge impact on this election, but this weekend is our last, best opportunity to make sure that Barack has the base of support he needs for a strong showing in Oregon.
Sign up to make a difference by canvassing this weekend:

Thanks for your help,
Rob
Rob Hill
Oregon State Director
Obama for America
P.S. -- You can help bring even more people into this movement by signing up as an Oregon Community Organizer.
Bring change from the bottom up by talking to voters, organizing your community, and making sure Obama supporters are ready and excited for the primary:

As much as I admire your allegience (sp?), I think she had it right the first time. Vote for whomever you want but just get out there and vote! -

Re: Delegate math adds up for Oregon primary
Fri, April 25, 2008 - 6:45 PMYou know, in an ideal world I think it would be great if everyone voted...but unfortunately many people vote without really thinking about who they are voting for so maybe it's good that we have low voting rates. Given this sheepish tendency of many, or laziness, I'd like to steer them in what i think is the best choice. ;-)

They're cool people. And last night they had fresh-baked brownies there. (As well as tons of other food -- it's hard to be on a diet when volunteering at a campaign headquarters.) Come and volunteer, and they'll feed you. :)
There's one woman in that office who just quit her job so that she could work for the campaign full-time. I think that rocks.
Last night I heard her say, "I like my coffee like I like my Presidents: Fresh, strong, and black." -
